Why This Blog Exists

This is my first post on this blog, and it explains my purposes in creating it.

This is a personal blog, with three main purposes. Those three purposes are indicated in the blog’s title:

  • ‘Catholic’–> As a practicing Catholic, I will write numerous posts about the Catholic faith. I especially like thinking and writing about liturgical traditions, the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas, and a few other topics.

  • ‘Classical’–> I am a scholar of Latin and Greek, and will post about various topics surrounding Greco-Roman culture. I ‘specialize’ in Latin poetry, and I am especially fascinated with Vergil’s Aeneid.

  • ‘Critic’–> Since I am an avid reader, I feel I could not have my own website without posting some literary criticism and/or book reviews.

As of now, my plan for this site is that the vast majority of the posts will be book reviews, at least for the first year or so. I am currently sitting on a number of books that I want to write reviews for.

Lastly, I must confess that I am fairly new to blogging, so it might be a long time before I’m done taking care of all the formatting stuff.

PS: The posting date seen above is a day later than the actual date, due to issues with the timezone setting.
